Fresh Start.

I opened the blinds this morning and looked out and, what is thay
laying out there? Surely not the newspaper, it looks too small.
Probably something someone threw out of a car. I mosey down
to see and only after I get all the way down there can I tell it's a
small newspaper. I was thinking it was probably a sample from
the Daily Commercial but when I got back in and opened it, it was
our Lake Sentinel that comes wrapped around the Orlando
Sentine. It was smaller today. I looked across the road to see
if Al Bundy was up but his car was gone. Hollow victory then.
Oh well, maybe he thought he'd get back in time to get it.
I guess I was used to it being all fluffed up after Rich had it.

Helen opened the bill last night and it is due. It's eighty some
dollars a year. Helen said that it was over a hundred when it
came last year and she wouldn't take it again. It expires on
July 21, about three weeks from now. Helen's not as happy
about it as I was so I told her to take it if she wanted to but I
wasn't buying the paper for Rick for another year. If she made
a decision she didn't tell me but there's no payment envelope
for me to mail this morning.

I thought if I did buy it, I'd see if Diane wanted to see it and
if so, I'd have it delievered over there and have her bring it
over when she was through, like she did for Rick when she
was taking it. It really pisses me off when a neighbor comes
over and gets the newspaper out of my yard or driveway
when I don't want him to and told him to let it alone.
I'll wait awhile and see what happens.

Well, the delivery to Diane's won't work. Al will figure out soon enough that Diane's getting the paper again and before you know it, the paper will have been read by 2 parties before you get it!

Ha. I didn't get up until 7:00 this morning but Helen was grinning,
she'd went out and got the paper first today and she was pretty
tickled about it.

The Diane plan is feasible but I'm almost certainly not going to do it
even though I'd rather for her to get to look at it first instead of
Rick. I really want a virgin paper if I'm going to pay for it.
He's never gotten Diane's paper and she'd jump his ass for sure,
not tell him OK like Helen did. He glommed onto the fact that I
don't read the paper and Helen doesn't get time to read it until
she gets home. I didn't or wouldn't allow it myself but Helen
gave it up when he asked even though it wasn't hers.

We were the third party when ours ran out before and Diane said
she had already told Rick he could have it after she was through
and knew that we got the paper or she would have given it to us.
That led to such things as "The painter got the paper." and it
was often in pretty ragged shape. He does get it here in
better shape now.

If I weaken and take the paper again, I'll tell him again to let
the damn thing alone and tell Helen not to agree for him to
look at it, that it's mine. And I may, I like for Helen to have the
paper, she reads it and stays informed. She doesn't read the
news on the internet.

I got out and got the paper this mornng just as it got light.
Maybe Diane told them I was fussing about it 'cause that's
three days in a row. It wasn't there when I first looked but
was the second.

Helen hustled out and got the paper this morning and was reading it when I got up. Maybe he's too tired to get up and beat us to it now, he
has to sleep on the couch and Jo sits right next to it and watches TV until 5 or 5:30 in the morning. He told Curly that he was getting used to it now though and turns the fan on and that helps.

The early worm must have got my paper. The garage door over there is open and I don't see the paper. The garbage had already run so I got the empty cans and brought them up beside the house. Not a peep from the other side of the road. I should call the paper company and tell them he's interfering with their delievery of the paper. Oh well, if I don't renew it it runs out on the 21st.

It wasn't there at 6:00 but was about 6:05 and I snagged it.
When Helen got up she said why don't I get his paper.
She looked but didn't see it so I looked from the bedroom and
there it was. It's still there. I should have got it so he could
see but I didn't. I really couldn't bring myself to do it.
It'd serve him right though.
Close out on a Compaq I wouldn't have for $319 at Circuit
City. I just got the one ad this week, Rick's paper does
usually have better sale papers on Sunday.

Nah, I wouldn't bother taking his paper.. He might see it as a sign that you want to share and vindicate his position.
I hope you renew it as you keep the forum entertaining with your daily paper posts!
I look forward to getting briefly involved in about 6 weeks Very Happy

Maybe Compaq is not so bad now since they are with HP?

Ma got out early and got the paper this morning, I layed
in a little longer and would have missed it probably.

I told Helen that you were looking forward to getting
involved in the paper chase and she said you'd wipe
him easy and he wouldn't have a chance.

Well, I'll give it my best shot! Only going to be able to compete for two mornings (Monday and Tuesday) but I fully expect to go undefeated!

I looked out the window (lifted a blind slat) next to the door
and didn't see any paper. Went in the bedroom for a different
view and didn't see a paper. I thought well, he's got it but a
few minutes later when I opened the blinds I saw from
another window that it was there behind one of the logs laying
out there so I went out and got it. He's already up and has
the garage door open so he just didn't make a move on it.
Maybe he got the idea or maybe it's spill over from a rubuke
to Jo from Curly. I think I'll take the paper for another year.
He's been saying he's leaving for a couple of months but
so far hasn't went anywhere.

Maybe you and Curly together can teach Rick some manners.

Whew, it was close this morning, I had the paper in my left hand
and had just finished putting the lid on my garbage can and was
picking it up when he holler good morning and he was halfway up
his drive coming over to get his trashcan.

That's another thing but I don't really care. Are they too good
to have garbage in front of their house?
They pick it up on his side as well and nobody else takes their
garbage across the road and leaves it in front of their neighbors
house.

Paper theft has stopped? Maybe Al and Peg have decided they've made enough neighbors mad and taking a break?

Yeah, I quit reporting 'cause it seems like a non event with only
me competing. It was almost 8:00 when I went out and got it
this morning. It looks like he's stopped.

I'll look on Helen's table after she's gone this morning and see
if I can find the paper bill. I guess I ought to go ahead and
get it for her for another year. It's over $1.50 a week now
but that's still not too bad.

If he starts getting it again I'll just go ahead and jump his
butt and tell him to stop.

The paper's there every morning now so I looked on Helen's table to see if I could find the bill for a year or whatever is offered and couldn't find it. I was going to write a check and send it in. I guess I'll have to ask her where it is when she gets home. She may have already subscribed again in her name.
