I already know which tax preperation service I'll use but
here's some info from Kim Komando:

www.hrblock.com

Price: Free Edition: $0. Basic: $19.99. Deluxe: $29.99. Premium: $49.99

www.TaxACT.com

Price: Deluxe Federal Version: $12.99 (+$5 for state return)

www.turbotax.intuit.com

Price: Free Edition: $0. Basic: $19.99. Military: Free or $24.99, depending on rank. Deluxe: $29.99. Premier: $49.99. Home & Business: $74.99

_______________

I'm going with TaxAct.  I read elsewhere that the Turbotax
usual versions no longer have form C included, pissing off
a bunch of people who were used to getting it with the other
versions.  Full top version with Form C is $89.99.  They buy
the verion they used last year and see they have to pay more
now for Form C.

Taxact didn't have near as many extras they tried to sell
while you're trying to fill out the info.  I haven't tried H&R
in several years but they all do the samething.

I used Turbo for the 2012 return, TA for the 2013 return.

Looks like a good choice for you. I'll stick with turbo tax. It pulls in all my info from previous years eliminating all names/ address re-entry hassles. I don't need form C so that's a plus. I did look at the tax act link and it doesn't appear the 12.99 one includes e-file? The free one and the more expensive one spells that out.

Not trying to push it to anyone but yes, Taxact $12.99
does include free efile. We do that every year so we
don't have to print it. They already have my last years
but I believe I gave it the copy from Turbotax the first
time and it put that stuff in for me.

Update on TurboTax from CNBC.

TurboTax 'messed up,' refunds customers

Investors outraged by TurboTax' recent change that forced them to pay 50% more for the tax preparation software: put down your pitchforks. TurboTax isn't just apologizing, but will refund your money.

Yep..That did it.. Slimy bastards. It doesn't say they are changing the deulxe edition to include schedule D so i'd have to buy Premier and then ask for the $25 refund.

Guess I'll try Tax Act for 12 bucks in a couple of weeks

Thanks Thump Very Happy
