$199

I got an e-mail this morning from CompUSA in Orlando (0wned by Tigerdirect) saying they had
them in stock but with only a limited amount left. Clicked the link and they were out.
They said it was their quickest selling item ever.

I had to hunt up my gift certificate, it was on page ten in my email and it was a pain getting it
to work. No more of those please. Sales tax and shipping was a little over $16.

I'll check out hos well my wireless router works and the range and check Curly's to and see if
he can get a connection in his shop from his office. After I've imaged it I may install Windows
7 and dual boot, it's free for a year. After I tire of it and if Helen doesn't take to it, I'll
probably try and sell it, it shouldn't cost me too much just to play with it.
Awfully small screen, I may ask the kids if I can install the little OS from the handhelds or
something. If not I may have to write my own pages with everything larger and on the left of
the page.

I have to cancel the backordered one at TD tomorrow.
Asus eeePC for $249 at Best Buy and Helen noticed it and I told her I'd ordered
her one but it wasn't coming. She decided to go buy it and I was supportive.

The salesman she asked told her she wanted one that was "fixed" by the geek squad.
She would have known better than to have it done but it came that way. $30 more.
And she bought accessories, another $30.

I hooked it up to the monitor but the picture went off after a while and I could only see
it on it's little screen. It isn't gettting on the wireless, sees it as fruitpark but doesn't
connect. Tools, Diagnose Connection Problems. Doesn't work, said it might be
the machine's firewall.
Closing the lid logs me out. Big monitor sure would help.

<edit>
It says I've been connected for 44 minutes, 54 something, and 5 bars.

<edit>2
Called the geek squad, they don't know, said to take it back to the store and let
them see. My wife took it back.

Asked the kids and there's none in sight, probably out playing or something.
Never can find one when you need one.

Helen took it back to Best Buy and there were three geek squaders standing there at the counter
when she returned it but two wandered off and the other tried repeatedly and couldn't get on
the net either. I feel so much better after Helen called and told me that. He said he'd have to
take it in the back and it would be about a half hour. She said she'd go back in about an hour
to make sure they had plenty of time. I hope they aren't taking it apart and putting in a
refurbished NIC. Oh well.

She brought it back and it got on the net and I downloaded and installed and ran Avira
antivirus. Then looked Start>Accessories>System Information and it just had 16 gigs of
space on the hard drive. It was supposed to have 160 gigs.

Helen called them and they said that was the wrong one. He got one and wrote her name
and phone number on the box (he said) and she's going to take this one back again in the
morning and get the right one. I really needed the adveritised space since it was so little
so I can put a virtual one on there and make everythiing bigger.
