PostSubject: Helen's Off Work Now   Wed Aug 12, 2009 1:46 pm

She was home all morning, I don't know how this is going to go.
She moved a lot of stuff from one place to another. I moved
everything I use back where it was.

She put on some fresh clothes a little while ago and is going to Target. I
asked her why but she never answered. I've been out of gas a couple of
weeks and I should mow the back yard. She remembered that and said "I have
to get some gas. If you'll get the gas can for me I'll pick some up while I'm out."
I said "Ok, I'll walk out on the back porch and get it for you." She said "Oh, is
that where it's at?" and followed me out on the porch and watched me pick it up
and carry it back inside. She just kept standing out there next to the table and it's
over 90 degrees outside so I closed the sliding glass door. It woke her up I guess
and she started back in and I opened the sliding glass door and let her in.
I walked to the front door but she quit following me and wandered off in another
direction. I said "Where do you want me to put it?" She said "Just put it in the
trunk." I said "Ok, open the trunk for me." and she got out her keys and walked just
outside the front door and pushed the button on her keyfob. I put the can in the

This isn't starting out too well. She's leaving to go south for the training thing for a
few days so we'll see how it goes when she gets back. I don't care if the back yard
is mowed or not so I'll probably wait until Saturday or Sunday morning before she
comes home. No use it being freshly mown when no one's here that cares.

PostSubject: retiring   Wed Aug 12, 2009 5:50 pm

Both the report "What Do Retired People Do?" and your description of the first day of Helen's retirement were funny.
I am reminded of one occasion when I declared that I would never retire as long as Wayne was alive.
It turned out that I couldn't retire even then. That is the main reason; what in the devil could I do with my time. So, at 84, I'm still not retired.

I think the Cobra is setup now but I'm not positive. I'm going to help her try and
figure out the 403b conversion today. She got a complicated thing from
Carpenter & Morse wanting $130 dollars to convert it and a ton of papers that
have to be filled out and a 30 day limit over riding the government 60 day limit.
The stuff has Ma confused.

She still really hasn't felt the impact and hasn't slowed down much. She stayed
nome all day Tuesday but was gone part of Monday and Wednesday. Said she
saved about $25 by renewing her drivers license before it goes up at the end of
the month. Brought some stuff home from her and Diane's trip to do that,
probably more than the $25.
