PostSubject: Helen's 403b to IRA   Fri Oct 02, 2009 12:10 pm

She had to give somebody (probably somebody's brother-in-law) $130 to transfer
her money to TDAmeritrade and they took way to long to do that and she got
the check yesterday in the mail. They didn't send it to TDAmeritrade like she
told them to do and the time was running out so she got in the car this morning
and drove to Orlando and deposited the money in the IRA account.

Her and Diane are in Dillards right now and it got done successfully.
Diane called me to tell me.

Well, I'm glad she got that taken care of but she should get her $130 bucks back if the guy didn't do anything!

They cashed out her investments (good) from the little she had in their
crappy funds but cash really sucks right now. I'm putting her a VPC on
the Dell right now since the old one I made to remember her stuff is on
the dead Dell hard drive and I had to take it out of the emachine 'cause
it was too hot. This may be temporary but I need something to keep it
seperate. Gonna choose some good companys that pay a decent dividend
for retirement. Gonna get 50 of MO for sure today when I get it set up.
Meanwhile, looking at these:

MO
P/E (ttm): 11.41
EPS (ttm): 1.52
Div & Yield: 1.36 (7.80%)

WMT
P/E (ttm): 14.38
EPS (ttm): 3.41
Div & Yield: 1.09 (2.20%)

PG
P/E (ttm): 13.18
EPS (ttm): 4.26
Div & Yield: 1.76 (3.10%)

***********************************************
MRK
P/E (ttm): 11.67
EPS (ttm): 2.70
Div & Yield: 1.52 (4.80%)

BMY
P/E (ttm): 8.11
EPS (ttm): 2.737
Div & Yield: 1.24 (5.60%)

JNY
P/E (ttm): 13.11
EPS (ttm): 4.551
Div & Yield: 1.96 (3.30%)

ABT
P/E (ttm): 14.52
EPS (ttm): 3.43
Div & Yield: 1.60 (3.20%)

***********************************************

CBRL
P/E (ttm): 11.71
EPS (ttm): 2.893
Div & Yield: 0.80 (2.40%)

DRI
P/E (ttm): 12.21
EPS (ttm): 2.75
Div & Yield: 1.00 (3.00%)

YUM
P/E (ttm): 16.52
EPS (ttm): 2.09
Div & Yield: 0.84 (2.50%)

Figuring the safety of dividends by comparing earnings to dividend and MO
looks the shakiest but it's s holding company and really has hardly any
expenses. MRK is the second shakiest with earnings less than twice the div.

*******************************************
10/05/2009 Bought 50 shares of MO @ 17.5795 -878.98
Balance: $96,726.64

div $1.36 x .5 = .68 or 68 a year

Bad news Rock. Helen called about the $200 Apple gift certificate and they
said the government didn't allow them to offer that for the IRA so no Ipod.

He said he was very sorry, said to hang on a minute and was gone awhile.
Came back and said they would deposit $100 in her account and give her
up to 20 free trades in the next 90 days. Said it'd take effect about
Wednesday. I'll start loading her up after it does but have stopped for now.

Looks like some nice sound choices. How about some GE, MSFT, PFE? Decent PE's with fairly good divs.
